7 Tips for Healthy Life

7 Tips for Healthy Life

1. One-pot dishes, such as soups, stews, or casseroles, are especially good because they generally save preparation time, money, and dish washing. Plus they make great leftovers. You can even cook one pot of oatmeal and heat up a serving size each morning. Rolled or steel cut oats are nutritious, very inexpensive and you can add anything you like such as seasonal fresh fruit and nuts or seeds to create a wonderful breakfast. This is also much cheaper and more nutritious than dry cereal or the flavored packets of instant oatmeal, which are usually packed with sugar.

2. Take a 10-30 minutes' walk every day. And while you walk, smile.

3. A low-sodium, high-vegetable diet (the DASH diet) has been shown to help control blood pressure. Drinking beet juice also may help.

4. Cut out junk foods. Evaluate how much money you are spending on items such as soda (regular or diet), juice, packages of cookies, crackers, prepackaged meals, processed foods, etc. Limit or cut out completely these unhealthy foods. Both your wallet and your body will be happy.

5. Aerobics is a fitness program in numerous different formats but basically involves lots of movement such as arm raises, leg raises, kicks, stretching, lunging, bending etc to music. The type & frequency of movements should depend upon your current level of fitness. The fitness program can again be followed at home using a video or DVD or at classes in your local gym or recreation centre.

6. Even just reducing your meals out by 1 or 2 times per week can save you as much as $25 per week. This is an easy way to save money and even have some extra to spend on higher quality foods.

7. Garlic has anti-body properties that can help cure an infection. A clove of garlic opened and rubbed onto the infected area, do this a few times a day until the infection is gone. If the infection is inside the vagina, garlic cloves can be inserted into the vagina and left for a couple of hours. Be sure to tie a string securely to the cloves or have some other method of removing them safely.
